Hymn Sing – August 20

This month we will be featuring hymns from our “State Fair Hymn Sing” book, in the weekly hymn sing and on Sundays. Sing out strong, like you’re inside the little old church at the fair!

1 Thessalonians 5:15 – “Always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.”

The Lord’s Been Good to Me
For “littles” and “young at heart”

LYRICS
Refrain:
The Lord’s been good to me, and so I thank the Lord,
For giving me the things I need, the sun, the rain and the apple seed,
The Lord’s been good to me.

Repeat 4 times

The Lord’s been good to me.
Amen, Amen, Amen —- Amen

Every Time I Feel the Spirit

LYRICS
Refrain:
Every time I feel the spirit, moving in my heart I will pray.
Every time I feel the spirit, moving in my heart I will pray.

1. Up on the mountain my Lord spoke, out of his mouth came fire and smoke.
All around me looked so fine, asked my Lord if all was mine.
Refrain

2. Jordan river’s chilly and cold, chills the body but not the soul.
There ain’t but one train runs this track, runs to heaven and runs right back.
Refrain

There’s a Church in the Valley

LYRICS
1. There’s a church in the valley by the wildwood, no lovelier spot in the dale; No place is so dear to my childhood as the little brown church in the vale.

Refrain:
(Oh come, come, come, come) Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh come to the church in the vale; No place is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the vale.

2. Oh come to the church in the wildwood, to the trees where the wild flowers bloom;
Where the parting hymn will be chanted, we will weep by the side of the tomb.
Refrain

3. How sweet on a clear Sabbath morning, to list to the clear ringing bell;
Its tones so sweetly are calling, Oh come to the church in the vale.
Refrain
