Worship

Norwalk Christian Church offers three different worship experiences:

Informal - 8:30 AM Sunday
This service is considered "casual" and this refers to the attire as well as tone. Worshippers gather to a piano prelude and open with a sung call to worship. The congregation selects hymns from our hymnal and praise book. The pastor speaks without a microphone from the middle of the floor. Participants come forward to give their offering and receive communion. A closing circle concludes the worship service.

Traditional - 10:30 AM Sunday
This service is considered "traditional" and contains elements such as a responsive call to worship, traditional hymns, and a sung Doxology. The children come forward for a children's message and a choir or special music is part of worship. The scripture and sermon are delivered from the pulpit. Offering trays are passed, as is Communion, by our Diaconate.

The Gathering - 6:00 PM Sunday
The praise-style music, with guitars and drums, is a distinguishing characteristic of this worship experience. The intimate setting of fellowship hall and emphasis on fellowship also sets this service apart. Participants come to the table for communion and offering. The service includes a prayer circle and shares in monthly potlucks.

Combined Worship
Occasionally there are times when we have a combined Sunday morning worship service at 10:00 AM. Combined services are publicized in the current newsletter, on the church sign, and in the Sunday bulletin.

Here are the scheduled combined worship service dates for 2006.

September 3  -- Combined  (Labor Sunday)
November 5  --  Combined  (Annual Congregational meeting)

All of our worship services include the Lord's Supper, Prayer, Scripture, Sermon, and utilize the lay leadership of our elders. We can baptize, dedicate infants, and receive people into membership at all three services. At Norwalk Christian Church we firmly believe that it's not how you worship, but that you worship.

Child Care
Child care is available for the Informal and Traditional worship services. Conviently   located just off the sanctuary and fellowship hall.Child care is offered during Sunday School time too

Fellowship Coffee
The coffeepot is on and refreshments are served following every worship service. Everyone is encouraged to share in fellowship with one another after each service.
